Bio. Of Yang:

Ruichun Yang was born in Shandong Province, China and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at Wuhan University. She got her start in journalism as a reporter at the China News Agency in 1995, later working as a cultural reporter, a political reporter at the agency. She worked for one year as director of the reporter department at China News Week. In 2001, she joined Southern Weekend, a weekly newspaper based in the southern city of Guangzhou, which is the most respected weekly newspaper in China and often cited for its independence. At Southern Weekend, she has been a reporter in the Beijing bureau, director of the features department and before she came to US to be a Knight fellow at Stanford, she was the director of the news department. In that position, she was also the editor of the front page.
